It Is Time To Change….

For many, today is known as mad Friday, the last Friday before Christmas when the shops are full, bars are busy and the roads chaotic. So, avoid all of that and read todays blog from David Hayden, who is a Learning and Development specialist for Talent Delivers and is a published author of Learning and Development Practice in the Workplace, more on that - https://www.koganpage.com/hr-learning-development/learning-and-development-practice-in-the-workplace-9781398621893

The following came to me when I read the title of this years Advent Blogs.  There are some things I don’t understand, some things I want to explore, some ideas that are bursting to be released.  Essentially this composition is a challenge to myself – do I want more of the same – or do I want to be a part of the solution?

The writing asks lots of questions of me, and I don’t know the answers,  but my goal is to explore them in 2026!!

It’s that time of year…

The clock ticks down, the hands appear to be going faster,

The familiar angst and worry creeps in,

The nights are cold and long, the days have shed their summer promise,

The winter wardrobe layers up and gloves need to be found,

Because

There is an itch that demands to be scratched

There is a plan that wants to be formed

There is an idea that makes my head hurt

There is a voice that screams inside of me, “take that step”

But

Where will the safety net, the comfort blanket and the re-assurance appear?

Where is the drive, the encouragement and the passion seeping away to?

Where will the check in and the feedback come from?

Where is the synergy, the motivation and the resources to make it happen?

And

Why are the cogs not turning as fast as the idea?

Why are those dreams and plans only sketched out?

Why is the execution so hard?

Why won’t my voice rise to the challenge the idea sets?

After all

Who can I trust to share my goals and plan?

Who is there to hold my hand when the going gets tough?

Who can join me in the pleasure and pain of the adventure?

Who really understands?

Then

How can I break down those walls, the barriers that hold me back?

How can I raise my head and hand to share the load?

How can I use the wealth and gifts to ease the burdens?

How can others see the bounty that beholds?

Regardless

I will smile and say I am fine

I will nod and listen to your story

I will let the time be eaten by your words

I will be there thinking “when is it my turn?”

So. Its time

To change the story, to create a new narrative,

To challenge a status quo that appears so solid

To make those little steps, those in-roads, that sense of doing something

To change, it’s time to change

So, it is over to me – what am I going to do?
