The Pace of Change Will Never Be This Slow Again
Today is the first #AdventBlogs weekend edition, and Victoria Hall is getting underway focusing on the pace of change. Victoria is a Training and Quality Assurance Manager for a 5-star Hotel in the Scottish Borders. A native of the North-East of England, who now lives in Scotland with her young family. She is connectable on LinkedIn - www.linkedin.com/in/victoria-hall-learning
Grab that brew, and take a look at the blog, but also take some time to review the stories, reflections and thoughts so far by clicking on Blogs above or going on LinkedIn and searching for #AdventBlogs
Over to Victoria and don’t forget to share your one change via LinkedIn. Thanks.
I’ve heard this quote countless times at conferences—usually in conversations about AI and technology. It’s a powerful reminder that change is accelerating, and the window to act is shrinking.
But today, I’m not talking about AI.
I’m talking about Sustainability.
It’s an area I hadn’t worked on before. Why? Because I didn’t see myself as the right person.
I thought- I don’t have the knowledge, the experience, the skills—or even the time.
Then came the turning point:
I realised that no one is the absolute expert. We all have time constraints. We all have the opportunity to learn. And as a Training Manager, I have a unique role to drive this change.
Here’s the truth-
The power of a training or learning and development role is enormous.
We touch so much of a colleague’s journey—from the very start at induction and orientation. We have the power to plant seeds and cultivate real change. To create a mindset that says:
“We all have a role to play in the sustainability agenda.”
Procrastination is the biggest barrier. Whatever the change is—whether it’s sustainability, technology, or culture—the longer we wait, the faster the pace picks up. And the harder it becomes to catch up.
The time is now.
And we are the ones to make it happen.
We are the leaders.
We are the influencers.
The teachers. The role models. The coaches.
WE ARE THE CHANGE-MAKERS.
(…but let’s be honest, probably still with a little procrastination—because we’re human.)
So, here’s my challenge:
What’s one change you’ll make before 2026—at work or in life—to make a positive impact?
Because the pace of change will never be this slow again. And as training professionals, we have the power to make sure that change is for the better.
